Now, did any of you spot the spelling mistakes in the last newsletter –? Of course they were deliberate – just to test you. I was however, taken to task over them (!)
Once is enough – I promise not to make any mistakes this time……. but nobody is perfect!
We on the committee would sincerely like to see membership of Friends grow – not only to swell the fundraising potential, but to join together with members of the community – not necessarily churchgoers to help us protect and preserve the building and all it stands for…… community, stability, a sense of history… After all it is always there – every photograph of the High Street shows a view of the church – and, as English Heritage asks “What would a village be without its church?” So please encourage your friends and family to join us – not much effort is required!!

Now we have a great opportunity for us all to come together before the above:
Last year we held a really lovely afternoon musical tea party. Norman Hudson and friends provided the musical entertainment and the food was amply supplied by members of the committee who are well versed in this kind of thing…. delicate sandwiches, cakes, all beautifully served on fine china in the church hall. We had a very good time and the Hall was full to capacity but sadly Norman, as many of you will know – passed away – as he would have wished had he any choice – immediately as the concert was ending – it was a bit dramatic -even for Norman, but his family said it was really a perfect exit – he was surrounded by friends after partaking in a lovely music making occasion. Norman was very generous to the church and to the Friends in giving us his time and energy and we are going to celebrate this by having a concert on
SATURDAY 25th October at 2.30 pm
His musical friends will be providing the entertainment…there will be afternoon tea (see above) and we do hope that you will be able to come and join us.
Tickets are £5 and include the music and a well-provided afternoon tea and there are raffle tickets and some lovely prizes!
We would love to see you there………

It is with great sadness we heard of the death of one of our members, Mr Terry Bolingbroke our thoughts and prayers are with Jean and family at this sad time.
