MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR.
Once again another very successful twelve months for the Friends of St. John’s. As usual, we have raised monies from various events including Table Top Sales, Farmers Market, Brass band Concert, Christmas Raffle, Sponsored walk etc. A Heritage Walk booklet has been produced and selling well and we are also selling our annual Calendar.
Our merry band of men put up the Christmas tree and decorations in the church. Later in the year they had made and erected a new Memorial Garden sign and also planted out the lovely geranium display at the side of the church steps.
We had a very enjoyable Curry Night at Deeva in October. In June we presented a cheque to the church towards the heating system and currently we are still fundraising for this.
A local history day about Farsley Village and its people was held in the Church on Saturday 8 September as part of the National Heritage Open Weekend. This was well attended. A wonderful array of photographs was provided and displayed by the two Malcolm’s and other helpers.
I would also like to thank all the Committee members, members of the Friends of St. John’s including corporate members and local businesses that support us regularly in attending events, donating raffle prizes, giving donations and sponsoring us in various ways etc. Also thanks to Councillor Andrew Carter for his ongoing support.
