MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR.
Yet another very successful twelve months for the Friends of St. John’s. As usual, we have raised monies from various events including Table Top Sales, Farmers Market, Brass band Concert, Christmas Raffle, Sponsored Walk etc.
Last November we had a very successful and enjoyable Brass Band Concert .
A cheque for £2500 was presented to Rosie Tudge in March this year to use towards “The Changing Places” and this was officially opened in June during the Farmer’s Market.
May saw our Sponsored Walk which raised approximately £450.
Malcolm Haist once again led our Heritage Walk in July around Farsley. Also in July we had a very enjoyable barbecue.
We presented a cheque at the Farmer’s Market for £1000 towards the kitchenette at the back of the church.
A local history day about Farsley Village and its people was held in the Church Hall on 2nd September. This was well attended. A wonderful array of photographs was provided and displayed by the two Malcolm’s.
Also in September we held a Pizza and Wine afternoon in the Church Hall rather than outside as the weather was turned inclement. Thank you to Paul for cooking all those pizzas. This was followed the next week by a Curry Night at Deeva (we have also had two other Curry Nights at Deeva in the last year).
We continue to have regular tables at the Farmer’s Markets and Table Top sales.
Many thanks to Malcolm, Malcolm, Dave, John, Jim and Mark who have tidied up the church grounds and graveyard and also cleared the wildlife garden area throughout the year. Thanks also to Councillor Andrew Carter who authorised the skip from the Council for us and also his ongoing support.
I would also like to thank all the Committee members, members of the Friends of St. John’s including corporate members and local businesses that support us regularly in attending events, donating raffle prizes and giving donations etc.
We are pleased to announce that just before Christmas we presented a cheque for £1500 to the PCC. for the church fabric fund taking to £5000 the amount we have managed to raise this year for St John’s.
The PCC. have just requested our help in raising funds to improve/repair the heating system in the church which is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain.
